Bad Credit Score

While some people living in other countries have never seen a credit card, Americans use credit cards and loans to buy all sorts of goods and services - from making a hotel reservation to buying a house. No wonder that America's Total Debt makes up $53 trillion. However, credit consumers do not want to carry a burden of heavy credit card debts. More and more US cardholders pay special attention to eliminating their debts.

Every adult American perfectly knows how important it is to have a good credit history and high credit rating. Negative payment records dramatically reduce your chances to qualify for a car loan or mortgage. That is why conscious credit consumers with bad credit score do their best to improve their financial status and raise their credit rating.

So, how to change the situation with bad credit for the better? In general, there are two ways out: you can start working hard on improving your score or just sit and wait for 7 years. The thing is that negative information stays on your credit report for up to 7 years, credit bureaus will take care of it. After 7 years expire, all negative items will be gone from your report just like a nightmare. No matter if you are a diligent card owner trying hard to pay down your debt, or if you are a persistent non-payer.

Once 7 years are gone you are free to start a new credit life. You can establish a credit history as if you were an 18-year-old teenager. But what is better - try to correct your financial missteps or turn to a cash-less lifestyle for 7 years and forget about your credit failures?

This is what financial expert think on this point. If you choose an easier way of going through hard times with your credit affairs and decide not to pay off your outstanding balances, your credit report will be extremely unattractive for credit providers. Meanwhile, a responsible payer that made up his or her mind to pay off their delinquent bills, makes a pretty good contribution to their credit report.

All attempts and moves towards eliminating debts are reflected in credit report. And this kind of a report, though with delinquent payments, has more chances to win lenders' favor. A responsible payer with bad credit even can count on getting approved for a low rate card from one of the banks that provide plastics for bad credit.

In order to improve your credit score, you need to add positive information to your credit report. Keep on paying off your delinquent balances, get a balance transfer card, consolidate your debts on it and take advantage of interest-free period on balance transfers.

Besides, staying on the lists of bad debtors that owe great amounts of money, you are exposed to such dangers, as debt collectors attack, getting court summons and lien on your property. At least one minimum monthly payment will save you from such problems.

Time is the best healer, say those, who choose to be at a standstill. Time is money - that is the saying responsible credit consumers appeal to. Which one would you choose?
